One Direction's Favorite Musician Friends

The boys of One Direction are the type to make friends wherever they go (for our September cover story, they befriended entertainment editor Dana Mathews, calling her various terms of endearment like "darling" and inviting her to hang out backstage at their show in Miami—lucky lady, right?). So it's no wonder they become BFFs with fellow musicians, too.
Ahead, meet three of the music-makers in 1D's inner circle. They work together, they play together...and they make us really jealous of how cool they are together.

Ed Sheeran
The British singer has lent his songwriting skills to 1D classics like "Little Things" and "Moments," and the boy band epically covered Ed’s hit "The A Team," but we’re still waiting for a proper collaboration between the blokes. Since he is best pals with the guys (and we do mean, best—Harry once let Ed give him a tattoo&like, a real, permanent tattoo), it’s only a matter of time.

Little Mix
Technically, Little Mix and One Direction have never worked together. But they have performed on the same famed X Factor stage—and even appeared in the same episode. But that’s not the only link between the British bands. Zayn is famously dating Perrie Edwards, which he spilled about in our September cover story. Remember when he said," We both understand each other. I’m really proud Little Mix just got number four on the charts and beat the Spice Girls’s record"? Yeah, that was cute.

One Direction hand-selected this Aussie boy band as the opening act for their summer tour, which is the biggest of big deals for emerging musicians who have yet to release a debut album. In fact, 1D have been fans of 5SOS since the beginning. Way back last winter, Louis tweeted his love for the band, sending a flurry of instant fans to their YouTube channel (and racking up almost 40,000 RTs). Oh, and one time Harry danced with drummer Ashton Irwin in what’s sure to be one of the best Vines ever.
