The 5 Beauty Looks You Need to See from the 2014 Academy Awards
It's the moment we've all been waiting for: The Oscars! And while the red carpet brought out lots of brilliant, shining stars, only five make our list for the best in beauty. Join us in applauding Emma Watson for her daring hair and Lupita Nyong'o for knowing exactly how to wear spring's pastel trend. (Moderation is everything, you know.) Anna Kendrick
Celebrity hair stylist Mark Hampton created a "modern French Twist" on Kendrick that wonderfully complemented the geometric design on the back of her J. Mendel dress. To get a gorgeous, soft finish that still held her updo in place, Hampton used Toni + Guy's Volume Prep Mousse on dry hair. "I blow dried it, using my hands to direct the hair. At the end, I just folded it on itself and secured it with two U-pins."

Lupita Nyong'o
Makeup artist Nick Barose worked his signature magic—once again—on red carpet darling Lupita Nyong'o. A slight touch of peach on both the lips and cheeks made for a wonderfully subtle flush that complemented—not competed with—her "Nairobi blue" Cinderella-inspired Prada dress.

Emma Watson
Emma's beauty look was all-around bold—rare is the girl who can pull off a red lip and a smoky eye with aplomb. But it's her hair that divided the Twitter critics, with some saying it looked too messy and others favoring the texture. We say this: The red carpet is too often a place for too-safe beauty looks. (And you know what? So is prom!) Follow Watson's lead and don't be afraid to defy expectations: Beachy-looking hair offsets a classic dress in a way that's delightfully fashion-forward.

Jennifer Lawrence
Makeup artist Ve Neill opted for a minimal beauty look for Ms. Lawrence, who looked positively radiant on the red carpet. We can chalk that up to Dior's Pore Minimizer—hello, shine-free finish—and a light touch of bronzer with a vibrant peach blush. As for that perfect nude lip? It's Dior's new Addict Fluid Stick in Mirage. You're welcome.
