Five Steps To The Perfect Blowout
For those of us who try to avoid washing our hair every single day, a good blowout can keep locks looking full and glossy for days. But with all the blow-drying and brush-maneuvering that's required when blowing out your hair, things can get a little tangled! So we asked John Frieda International Creative Consultant Harry Josh to give us the scoop on how to achieve a long-lasting, supershiny blowout.

Prep Your Hair
Take a good look at your hair type and identify its weakness: Frizz? Damage from heat styling? Lack of volume? When you get out of the shower, apply a pre-blowout product that targets your specific weakness. If you have frizz issues, apply Frizz-Ease to soaking wet hair to combat it.

Just Add Heat
Tackle your hair one section at a time (each section should be one to one-and-a-half inches thick). This will ensure that you're getting your hair truly dry and help create the optimum amount of volume and sleekness. Make sure you're using the right brush; I like boar bristles the best.
Brushes with metal bristles tend to get too hot, and they can snag and break hair. Point the blow-dryer at your roots and follow your brush as you pull hair straight. Don't rush—you'll end up spending just as much time going back over the section again and again if you don't blow it out carefully from the start, which can cause breakage.

Finish Flawlessly
This is your last chance to perfect your blowout before heading out the door. Apply the appropriate finishing product for your specific hair type to give frizz and flyaways a final goodbye. If you need to boost the volume or extend your blowout for another day, spray Luxurious Volume Anytime Volume Refresher at your roots.
