How To Create A Manicure Inspired By The Prada Runway
Just like the models on the Prada spring 2013 runway, this manicure combines the sweetness of a baby pink base and bright flowers with the fierceness of a black background. Influenced by the contrasting color palette, nail art pro Elizabeth Monson translated the beautiful dress into a mani you can wear all season long. "This captured the overall look of the Prada show in a great way, and when it comes to nails, a stripe down the middle is unique," says Monson.
Nail art pens are great tools for creating this polish look because their nimble points mean precision (and if you need a recommendation, Monson's a fan of the Migi brand). If you'd rather not invest in these colored pens, you can simply use toothpicks instead. You'll be left with your own mini version of this runway favorite!

"I always start with a base coat," says Monson.
Try the Revlon Nail Care Quick Dry Base Coat.
3/7Add Your Base Color
"Apply a layer of solid pink."
Monson used Butter London Nail Lacquer in Teddy Girl.
4/7Create A Rectangle
"I waited for the pink to completely dry and then used Scotch tape to outline a little rectangle. That gives you sharp edges. Fill it in with a black. I like to pull off the tape before the black color dries, otherwise it’ll pull off polish with it."
Try Essie Polish in licorice.
5/7Color in The Flower's Center
"Do the entire flower in white first so the red center will pop against that base, instead of trying to apply it directly to the black."

6/7Draw Flowers
"Use white and red nail polish pens to make the flowers. These are just a combo of polka dots! It all depends on how big your nails are, but the basic design is a smaller flower with bigger petals and then a bigger flower with smaller petals. Use more paint on your tool to make the bigger petals."
