9 Insane Pretty Little Liars Fan Theories That Will Blow Your Mind
For fans of Pretty Little Liars, the past five months have crawled by with absolute torture. With no new episode since the explosive finale this past August, there’s been major withdrawals, but also lots of extra time for clue hunting. After all, if there’s one thing that can be said about the PLL army, it’s that they are relentless when it comes to searching for clues, and will re-watch previous episodes dozens of times if it might yield a new hint or theory. Despite the fact that the show’s mysterious villain “A” was supposedly revealed in the summer finale, the PLL Army has not stopped searching for new ideas. It doesn’t hurt that the series’ showrunner, I. Marlene King, has hinted at the fact that there’s a new “Big Bad” in upcoming episodes. Furthermore, she has insinuated that this next bad guy has actually been the show’s ultimate villain all along. And really, that was all the PLL Army has needed to hear before diving into the past seasons in search of secrets and potential clues. Here are nine of the mind-blowing theories that these fans have created:

The twin theory has been floating around the internet for a while, and King herself has even reinforced it, teasing that we may see double at some point.
One Tumblr user managed to find a photo taken on set while filming the upcoming season that depicts actress Troian Bellisario, who plays Spencer, in the Hastings’ living room. She is standing with several other actresses and crew members, but one of them is dressed in an almost identical way to Spencer, with the exact same hairstyle. True, it could be a stunt double, but in Rosewood, there are no coincidences.

The series has laid a lot of groundwork in overlapping the dirty secrets of the DiLaurentis and Hastings families. But is it possible that there’s an even more scandalous link between the two households? This Reddit user seems to think so.
We know that Peter and Jessica already had an affair, and that Jason is their child, so it’s possible that Charlotte might also be Peter’s daughter and not Kenneth’s. If this theory proves to be true, we may need to add several more questions to the mystery surrounding Jessica’s murder.

One thing that still hasn’t been completely resolved is Wilden’s deep-rooted investment in everything that goes on in the Liars’ lives. We know that he was involved with Allison and Charlotte, and that he accepted bribes to cover up Toby’s mother’s murder. But like...why? Why was he so corrupt?
Instagram user alice_is_a drew some interesting connections between Wilden, Ezra, and the Rear Window motif that comes up in a lot of episodes. We know that both Ezra and Wilden had an affinity for, uh…women who are younger than them, and we also know that Ezra was the “Board Shorts” that Allison described in her journals. Could it be that there’s a shadier connection between these two?

The infamous N.A.T. Club will not be so quickly forgotten. The name of the club means “We See All” and it included members like Garrett, Ian, and Jason. We know very little about this secret society, but we do know that they creepily filmed the girls during sleepovers and other shady behavior. It’s also important to note that two of our original N.A.T. members are dead.
A post on Reddit theorizes that Melissa might be part of the club as well, and enlisted Charlotte’s help by way of blackmail. This theory also ropes Wren into the mix, and it would be very interesting — not to mention fulfilling — if the N.A.T. Club comes back to play a big role in the ultimate reveal.

Sara Harvey became one of the most polarizing characters on the show, for the sole reason that she seemed to be created out of nowhere. We learned about her existence several seasons ago, when the Liars found out that she went missing on the same day as Allison. She didn’t seem to play much importance until she reappeared in the Dollhouse, and then was revealed to be both Red Coat and Black Veil — a plot twist that many found to be quite anti-climactic.
However, this Tumblr theorist thinks that there might be more to Sara than we currently know. According to her post, there’s evidence that could prove that Sara used to be in Radley (just like Bethany) and that she makes several references to images in Bethany’s drawings. We also know very little about Sara’s family, which would align with the fact that Bethany’s father had an affair with Mrs. DiLaurentis. If Sara turned out to be the infamous Bethany Young, her character might have a greater impact on the series than we ever imagined.

Many of the Bethany Young theories thrive on the fact that we have not yet seen Bethany’s face. This has to be of significance, and many believe it’s because we would recognize Bethany as a character we’ve already met.
Maya’s death has been shrouded in mystery since the early days of the series. She’s been gone for so long that most of us have given up on any “Maya is alive” theories, but one Tumblr blogger seems to think otherwise. Her theory hinges on the fact that Radley Sanitarium could be an anagram for “Maya R. DiLaurentis” — and we know how much PLL loves their anagrams.

The promos for Season 6b seem to indicate that the new “big bad” is male, but that really could mean it’s anyone. Another shadowy male figure? “Beach Hottie,” and as Twitter user @marlynexx points out, we never actually learned who “Beach Hottie” was. (Yes, we all assumed that this was Wilden, but it was never confirmed.)
Wren has been shady since the pilot, and before the big Charlotte reveal, there were strong theories that suggested that he was the elusive “A.” Could it be that Wren is actually the show’s ultimate villain? It would certainly be a victory for all the theorists who have been suspicious of Wren ever since he gave Spencer that Season 1 backrub.

Mrs. Grunwald, the sorority grandma, is mostly known for her creepy eyes and her cryptic messages. She’s said a lot of weird and vague things that have been open for interpretation, but one thing is for certain — Mrs. G knows way more than she lets on.
Earlier in the series, she warns the girls, “One of you have been touched by the one Allison fears the most.” This Instagram theory points out that we really don’t know to whom she is referring — but it’s probably not Cece. When we initially saw this, we assumed she was talking about one of the boyfriends…but could it be someone else? Wilden? Lucas? One thing is for sure: as we head into 6B, we shouldn’t forget anything the Grunwald has told us.

Perhaps the most intriguing possibility is this YouTube theory that suggests Ezra is not innocent after all. As much as we love our PLL ships, we all need to admit that it would be pretty epic if one of the boyfriends turned out to be the Big Bad all along.
It can’t be ignored that there always seemed to be a team of people helping “A”; it never seemed like a one-woman job. To go one step further, we learned that someone on the A Team used the alias Varjak, which is most likely a reference to “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” This has always felt very Ezra-esque, and it would be perfectly fitting — and a throwback to the earlier clues — if he is ultimately revealed to be “Uber A.”
