Primavera Sound 2023: See All The Best Street Style from the Festival’s First Edition in Madrid
If you are in need of festival inspiration, look no further than Primavera Sound 2023 Madrid. For the first time ever, the famed festival made its way to the Spanish capital. Traditionally held at Barcelona's Parc del Fòrum, Primavera Sound expanded its territory in 2023, marking the first time the festival has a dual-city run. Primavera Sound's second weekend took place at Arganda del Rey's Ciudad del Rock (City of Rock) just a week after its traditional run on the Catalonian shore, and Madrilians brought the heat for the occasion.
Though the lineup was practically the same as Barcelona's, unfortunately, Madrid's run was cut short from three to two days as the first day of the festival was canceled, citing an adverse weather forecast as the reason. That means attendees missed out on seeing acts like Halsey, Pinkpantheress, and Red Velvet. Still, the two-day schedule packed a punch both musically and stylistically.
The second day of Primavera Sound 2023 Madrid was headlined by Kendrick Lamar, who performed both recent and classic songs from his repertoire — including “Element,” “King Kunta,” “Money Trees,” and “Family Ties” alongside cousin and collaborator Baby Keem — to a tirelessly bouncing crowd. Rosalía followed suit a day later, returning to the Spanish capital just a month shy of her Motomami world tour anniversary. The revamped set list for her festival run, which she debuted at Lollapalooza in Argentina and has since taken to Coachella 2023 and beyond, features songs off her acclaimed third studio album alongside newer releases like “Beso” and “Vampiros,” her collabs with fiancé Rauw Alejandro. During her stellar performance in Madrid, the singer shone as bright as the stars, continuously thanking fans for their support and energy and even dedicating a few words (and some tears) in between hits.
Elsewhere during the festival, attendees were privy to truly the best of both worlds — from serenading sessions from the likes of Japanese Breakfast and Arlo Parks, to dance magic from Calvin Harris and Skrillex, going over rock and punk raves from Måneskin and Yves Tumor, and reggaeton and dembow courtesy of Villano Antillano and Tokischa.
