10 Robe Coats That Are As Cozy As They Are Chic

A love child between your coziest terrycloth bathrobe and a menswear-inspired topcoat, this finishing layer has the ability to make anything underneath it look exactly 300% cooler and more comfortable. Wear with caution; people will stare. (And then promptly ask you where you got it, obviously.)
This outerwear trend has spread rapidly from the runways of Altuzarra and The Row to the attainable racks of Topshop, Aritzia, and even Uniqlo. While neutral colors like charcoal grey, camel, and navy have timeless appeal, we’re currently swooning over some of the more playful versions out there — like a blown-out gingham wrap coat from Sea and H&M’s tribal-inspired print.
As soon as the temperatures dip in New York, we’ll be wearing one of these knee-length (or longer!) coats all season long over everything from office-appropriate dresses to boyfriend jeans and court sneakers. RIP puffer coat, we’ll hardly miss you.
We wouldn’t necessarily recommend wearing one over pajamas or pajama-inspired looks (there is such a thing as overkill), but like we said, 300 percent cooler. It’s your call.
