Saks Beauty 2.0 Floor: What to Buy
Shopping for beauty products in a department store is a luxury in itself (The fancy brands! The free samples! The people at the counters who treat you like royalty!), and Saks Fifth Avenue just upped the game by unveiling their new, improved, and beyond luxurious beauty floor.
Saks unveiled the beauty floor — the first of its kind for the brand — at its New York City flagship on Monday night. Not only is it enormous (32,000 square feet, to be exact), but it features more than 120 (!) different brands ranging from skincare to makeup to fragrance to wellness. The floor also boasts a full range of beauty "experiences," and has 15 spa rooms that offer spa-grade treatments, facials, massages, manicures, and brow services.
To say that the beauty retailer space is a crowded one would be a huge understatement; niche stores like Sephora and Ulta are many a makeup lover's go-to for an in-store experience, and social media has become a key driver of online sales, according to a 2017 Retail Dive study. With competition stiffer than ever, departments stores have had seriously to up their game in order to win consumers's dollars — largely by offering experience-driven services that you won't get on a screen.
“What makes this new beauty concept special is the exclusive services and unparalleled offering of brands we are providing to our clients. We curated the floor to represent the best innovations in beauty and wellness in a truly specialized space,” Tracy Margolies, Chief Merchant of Saks Fifth Avenue said in a statement. “By offering beauty and wellness workshops and panels, Saks is taking a holistic approach to make our clients feel great both inside and out.”
While there are approximately 10,000 things we want to buy at Saks's new beauty floor, scroll through to see our top five picks.
