To get achieve the tousled but sophisticated updo that Selena Gomez wore at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, celebrity hair stylist John D started with damp hair prepped with with a small amount of Alterna's Bamboo Whipped Mousse. After drying the hair with a round brush to achieve extra volume, he pulled aside a couple of large rolled sections of hair on the top and sides, framing the face.

John created a knotted hairstyle by braiding small sections throughout Selena's head and securing them at the crown. He finished the look by pinning the remaining loose strands into the bun and topped it off with Tresemme's 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray.

For her makeup, celebrity beauty artist Karan Mitchell kept things classic, creating the ideal complement to her lace gown and glamorous hair with glowing skin offset with bronzy smoldering eyes and immaculate brows. As a final touch, Selena's lips were done up with Lancome Color Design Lipcolor in Fashion Icon, a metallic rosy hue, topped with Lancome Color Fever Gloss in Hibis-Kiss, a sparkly coral shade.
