Simple Tips for Taking Care of Under-Eye Circles

While dark circles can be the result of too little sleep, too much salt, or allergies, they can also be genetically inherited and there's not a lot you can do long-term. There are, however, short-term fis. Celebrity makeup guru and eyebrow shaper Anastasia Soare reveals her tips on how to look bright-eyed and awake, no matter what you're born with.

"To cool and soothe the eye area, I'll place a teaspoon in the freezer overnight, and then the next morning, I'll gently press the curved surface of the spoon against the area under my eyes. The cold spoon helps to de-puff the eyes before I apply any product. Remember, this is a very delicate area of your face, so don't press too hard.

Next, I give my eyes a mini mask treatment: I love to use Jason Natural 98% Aloe Vera Gel under my eyes, and then place the cold spoon on top. Aloe vera gel can be used all over the face as well, and I love to apply it right out of the shower to hydrate the skin and keep dark circles at bay.

Finally, my saving grace is my Cooling Eye Brightener, a product I developed to combat dark circles and puffy eyes. It's like placing an Altoid underneath your eyes—it just wakes them right up! The cooling gel-cream soothes and brightens the under-eye area while depositing a bit of illuminating color to brighten the skin. After your eye treatment product, apply an illuminating concealer to brighten the area and conceal circles."
