Snag Makeup Ideas From The Haute Couture Runways
Though the makeup on the haute couture runways is often intense, 2013's crop focused on just one feature to make really funky. Designers either zeroed in on a serious eye look or a kooky pout, adoring models' faces with three-dimensional additions, like gems and tulle.
These looks aren't something you'd be wearing to math class, but if you like to experiment with your style, you can snag inspiration from the concepts on the runway. Read on to check out five whimsical, quirky, and totally off-beat looks and see how you might interpret them into more wearable makeup.

Chanel's Feathered Eyeliner
Feathers and fishnets probably aren't the first things that come to mind when think about Chanel makeup, but haute couture is a whole new ball game. At the spring couture show, these fabrics ran consistently through the clothes, hairpieces, and yes, makeup. Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, was the mastermind behind this mind-bending Black Swan-like look.
This may not be your friday night go-to, but feathering your shadow or liner just a tiny bit could create a really interesting smoky eye.

Dior's Diamond Lips
The blinged-out puckers at Dior came in array of colors from pale pink to fire engine red. Matching rhinestones were applied in hues that matched models' lip colors, giving each pout a splash of sparkle and dimension. The rest of the complexion was kept very muted, so the lips were the focal point of the look.
Though you probably won't bejewel your own pout, definitely try a vibrant hue for spring. Pick a colors that realy stands out against your skin tone and rock it with confidence!

Jean Paul Gaultier's Surprising Sparkle
Rhinestones made another appearance at Jean Paul Gaultier. Some models were absolutely covered in the mini gemstones, but other wore one just on their inner corners to bring light to their eye makeup and maybe one or two more as a beauty mark. Dark lips and eyeshadow completed the look!
Remember those gems with sticky backs that you would pretend were earrings? Why not bring back the old-school favorite? You might have graduated beyond colorful pieces of plastic, but you can buy actual gems at a craft store and use cosmetic grade (that's important!) glue to stick them to your ear lobes, cartilage, or even the side of your nose. Your parents will probably be relieved to learn your newest piercing is phony and it's an excellent way to add a touch of sparkle to your look.

Versace's Splash of Color
Electric green looks great on Karlie Kloss backstage at Atelier Versace. The stripe of color cut through a dark black smoky eye, while the rest of the face was left fairly untouched.
A touch of color in your own smoky eye is an excellent idea. To make a neon hue really stand out against dark powder shadow, try using a white eyeliner as a base below your color. Using shadows wet can also make them appear more pigmented.

Armani Prive's Sky High Liner
The look at Giorgio Armani Prive was all about the upper eyeliner. This makeup technique was used plenty of times at the regular spring shows, so it's clearly a trendy style. The swipe of black looks misplaced so high about the lid, but it certainly frames the eyes.
Leave the greasy-looking bangs to the runway professionals, but get experimental with your eyeliner. Try applying a stripe in the crease of your lid, so it's not quite as noticeable, or using a pastel shade instead of black as an intro to this runway-favorite look.
