Blogger Stephanie Liu on Wardrobe Inspiration and Shopping Go-Tos
California native Stephanie Liu didn't initially upload pictures of herself to her blog Honey & Silk, but a one-off shot of a favorite new top made her realize she wanted to share her looks with the world. And we're glad she did! Stephanie's covetable style is sophisticated with a twist; she often dons classic silhouettes in unexpectedly bright colors or wild prints and mis statement pieces with elegant staples.
But the 23-year-old California native doesn't just post outfit photos on what has morphed into a popular personal style site, she also runs her very own online store (it's called Last Night and currently specializes in dresses, by the way). 3/9What’s the story behind the name, Honey & Silk?
My two loves in life are fashion and food. Silk is the one fabric that makes me melt, and honey is my food addiction—I put it on everything, even my skin!
What’s the best part of being a blogger?
The best part of blogging is meeting all types of people online and in real life. I’ve made amazing friendships through blogging! The hardest part is actually getting started. It can be intimidating, but you just have to do it. Write your first post, and don’t look back!

4/9What's your first fashion memory?
When I was 8 years old, my friends all had Birkenstocks. My mom refused to get them for me because she thought they weren't cute. I've listened to her fashion advice ever since.
What is your most-worn piece of clothing?
A taupe maxi dress with a criss-cross back and deep open sides. It's comfy, easy, and chic all at once.

I always follow two rules: Have fun and feel confident. Attitude is an important part of my style. I would also describe my look as feminine and colorful.

It's inspired by my surroundings, my daydreams, and by the fabulous people I surround myself with, including my stylishly wise mom.

I love to shop (and window shop) at Net-A-Porter, Barneys, Opening Ceremony, Zara, ASOS, Need Supply Co., and Pixie Market.

What trends are you into this season?
I don't follow up on trends that much. My one obsession that won't end any time soon is metallics. I love the extra radiance and dimension they add to an outfit. Give them to me in shoes, bags, and every type of wearable. I want a shiny closet!

I'd like to see more '90s silhouettes make a comeback. I'm thinking high halter necks, oversized denim jackets, strong shoulder blazers, and high rise jeans.
What would you like to disappear?
I know I may be alone in this thought, but it's gotta be the peplum. I really, really don't get it.

9/9How do you photograph your outfits each day?
My lovely little sister takes my pictures me. I’m lucky she’s artistically-inclined, though I know the only reason she agrees to do it is because she loves to play with my camera!
What camera do you use?
Canon 5D Mark II. It’s my love.
What do you do when you’re not blogging?
I’m buying new dresses for my online shop Last Night and chatting with my customers about styling and other fun things.
