Street Style Takes Front Row at New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022

Every New York Fashion Week, we're reminded why the city is a global fashion capital. In addition to the captivating runways, we see an exquisite selection of street style throughout the week. From celebrities to editors to TikTok influencers, everyone puts on their finest ‘fits to showcase not just the latest trends but also their unique personal style. 

Despite the two-year break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, New York City continues to make up for lost time and prove its influence. With New York being such a diverse city, Fashion Week brings people from various backgrounds together. Each individual presents their own curated style influenced by their culture, environment, and identity, making New York Fashion Week special.

This year in particular, we saw how New Yorkers and visitors are capable of adapting to the elements, even when they're unexpected. To our surprise, the winter Fashion Week started warm and sunny, but ended with snow on the ground and a chill in the air. However, the weather was no match for the fashion gurus who seemingly had an outfit ready for any climate. And for those like us who love to see street style, it was an extra special treat to see everything from extravagant coats to Y2K-inspired mini skirts all in one week. Like a two-for-one special, we got to see some of the highlights of the winter season and a sneak peak of the styles spring will bring.

As people bundled up to stay warm or tried to add some extra flair to their outfits, accessories were especially popular this time around. In addition to a typical jewelry set or handbag, sunglasses, scarves, and headwear were also popular this season. New styles like balaclavas and fuzzy bucket hats were introduced to the mix. And while we can't deny that we love a new trend, we also have to appreciate the classics. Fittingly, we saw people wearing plenty of staple pieces including leather jackets, blazers, and of course, white sneakers. 

But, the details didn't stop there. Just like the runway looks with latex, embellishments, and feathers, texture was a major component in many guests' street style outfits as well. Of course, the cold winter called for some cozy knits, soft fleece, and fur trims. But, we also saw a lot of bold fabrics and dazzling sparkles from those looking to get a head start on spring trends. 

Color was also a key part of people's makeup this time around. Perhaps influenced by Euphoria, many people opted for colorful eye shadows, sharp eyeliner, and nude lipsticks. And while these looks were also on the runway, we got to see guests put their own spin on them. They incorporated the trends into their personal style while coordinating them with their outfits.

Whether you prefer to stick with classic styles or like to experiment with new looks that are quickly gaining popularity, New York's street style scene seemingly has something for everyone. If you're looking to revamp your personal style or shop the latest trends, the city can be your source of inspiration. 

As we bid farewell to this season's New York Fashion Week, we  still can't get over the street style we saw.
