Best Street Style From Tokyo Fashion Week — See Photos

When it comes to fashion weeks, all eyes are usually on the "Big Four." However, if you are looking for street style inspo, there’s way more to see out there.

Paris, Milan, London, and New York will always deliver but if you are looking to step outside of your comfort zone, you need to broaden your horizons — quite literally. We’ve already seen the power of Scandi street style fashion at Copenhagen Fashion Week, and now Tokyo Fashion Week is serving up some serious street style inspo, too. 

The Fall/Winter 2022 edition of Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo took place from March 14–19 and, of course, the streets were full of stylish people. From couple to mother-daughter looks and even canine fashion, the street style at Tokyo Fashion Week truly had everything.

Multiple attendees were seeing spotting accessories from key Western brands such as Marc Jacobs, Telfar, and Vivienne Westwood. Maison Margiela’s tabis, which draw inspiration from Japanese culture, and the brand’s trademark stitches also made themselves seen on more than a few outfits. Of course, it wouldn’t be Japanese fashion without some avant-garde looks featuring sober silhouettes and color palettes with deconstructed elements. 

Aside from layering expertise, eclecticism was also one of the keywords in Tokyo with some fashion week goers opting to mix textures or favor pattern clashing in their ensembles. Kimonos, worn as they are traditionally intended as well as with modern twists, also took over the streets of the capital city, as did accent leather harnesses.
