A Pretty Sunset Mani for Your DIYing Pleasure
It may be a little old-fashioned to take in the sunset with your crush, but a sunset-inspired manicure? That's totally fresh. The soft gradient of orange, purple, and yellow that nail-art pro Madeline Poole has designed is definitely going to be a favorite, especially if you're over the whole festive thing already. And her foolproof technique for blending the colors together makes it extra easy!

Use Yellow
Apply two coats of the sunniest shade you can find. The brighter the better.
Poole used Butter London Nail Lacquer in Pimms.

Add a Purple Stripe
Using a lavender polish, paint a horizontal line down the middle of the nail. You want a little yellow still visible at the top and bottom, so don’t go too far with it.
Copy Poole’s look exactly by using Butter London Nail Lacquer in Molly Coddled.

Start with a Base
This will create a smooth surface for your nail art.

Apply Orange to the Tips
Using an orange polish, carefully paint the top section of each nail.
Go for a super vibrant shade. Poole chose Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in Fiery Island.

Blend Using Yellow
Pour a few drops of your yellow polish onto a small surface and add a few drops of your base coat next to it. Now take a very small, flat brush and mix a bit of each together. Then dab along the seam of where the purple meets the yellow, using quick, blunt motions until the shades are blended together. Practice on a piece of paper first to get comfortable with the technique, and then try it on your nails!

Seal the Manicure
A top coat will give the design a nice dose of shine.
Butter London’s Hardwear Quick Top Coat makes your nails look extra-glossy.
