The internet is a wild no-man's land of gossip and rumors, and sometimes it's hard to tell what's true from what "sources" are saying. Of course, this is most apparent when a celebrity couple breaks up or gets together — and both factors are at play here with Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, and Tom Hiddleston.
Need a recap? News of Taylor and Calvin's breakup shocked the world on June 1. On June 15, photos that allegedly showed Taylor making out with actor Tom Hiddleston on a beachside rock in Rhode Island (so like, basically #goals) were published in The Sun. Since then, the internet has hardly been able to even.
As such, we've rounded up 10 of the most out-there rumors — none of which have been verified by Taylor's, Tom's, or Calvin's camps, and are, at this present moment, simply gossip. No matter what, it's important to remember that slut-shaming Taylor (or any other woman who is living her best life and dating around) is not a cute look — and that goodness, the internet sure does have a wild imagination.
1/10Rumor: the paparazzi who took the original pictures was hired to do so.
By now, tons of sites have speculated on the possibility that someone on either Team Swift or Team Hiddleston — or both — tipped the paparazzi off and worked with them to create the photos for The Sun. We'll spare you all of the detailed breakdowns of how staged paparazzi photos happen (because they do, all the time) but it very much seems like a stretch to say that Taylor would let a paparazzo onto her property.
Likelihood of being true: Taylor has proven that her Insta-game is strong, so why not post a selfie of her own? We're not buying it until we see the text thread.
2/10Rumor: Taylor wanted the photos to leak.
The Cut's working theory is that Taylor knew that Kim Kardashian West's comments (which basically call Taylor a liar) would hit the internet this week, and that she wanted to divert the attention to something that was a little more favorable. Thus, photos.
Likelihood of being real: We highly doubt Taylor and her team have a comprehensive breakdown of when magazines release their new cover stories, and though her representative gave a statement for Caity Weaver's profile of KKW, it would hardly be easy enough to time a Rhode Island getaway conveniently to that cover story.
3/10Rumor: A Tumblr fan predicted this relationship.
Well, not quite — but this fanfic of Taylor and Tom, written by then-20-year-old Jennifer Stanley has them meeting at the 2015 Met Gala, so it's close.
Likelihood of being true: Unclear. Likelihood that Taylor reads fanfic? Also unclear, but we're not ruling it out.

At least, that's what a "source" says. But whether it's a breakup album or one about new beginnings and a new relationship is yet to be determined.

You know Taylor Swift loves her cats. But according to Hollywood Life, Tom does, too. But just because he's posed with the furry creatures — and once owned one named Orlando — doesn't quite mean that they're a match made in heaven. At least he's not allergic, like Calvin was. (Though that never stopped the DJ from playing babysitter when Taylor was out of town.)

8/10Rumor: Tom sent Taylor flowers after she broke up with Calvin.
According to The Sun, Tom and Taylor exchanged numbers at the Met Gala — a new interview (that was pre-recorded) with Capital FM features Tom explaining that the two met when she co-chaired with his friend and costar Idris Elba and adding that she's "a really astonishing artist." The source also says that “nothing happened before things were officially over with Calvin, but let’s just say Taylor was hardly brokenhearted.”
Likelihood of being true: Very unclear, but flowers are a sweet gesture, even between friends.

A source — who allegedly went to the 2016 Met Gala — told The Sun (the same publication that had the exclusive to photos of Hiddleswift) that “the courtship between Taylor and Tom began the night" of fashion's biggest event and that she called Calvin to end the relationship shortly after. Yes, while he was recovering in the hospital after his car accident. Yes, like Joe Jonas did to her all those years ago. (Well, not quite. Joe left a voicemail. That's cold.)
Likelihood of being true: Met Gala tickets run for thousands of dollars each, so we're not sure why someone who attended would then talk to The Sun. Isn't the experience enough?
10/10Rumor: Taylor is just being Taylor and living her best life.
Likelihood of being true: Even Calvin Harris corroborated when he brushed off the paparazzi and said "she's just doing her thing." If that thing is "doing what any 26-year-old with a right to love and be loved would do," then yes, she very much is.
