10 Amazing Women We’d Like to See on the New $10
Wesley Johnson1/12As you may have heard, the $10 bill is in for a major revamp. The Department of the Treasury announced that instead of stodgy old Alexander Hamilton (jk, we love you) the $10 will soon be getting a new face — possibly a female one. Treasury has launched a #TheNew10 campaign on social media to get everyone's opinion of who should be on the revamped bills, but we had a few of our own. See who we think should grace our brand-new currency, and send your thoughts to the government with #TheNew10. Stay tuned to see if they ultimately pick one of the people we suggest.

Harriet Tubman was born a slave, escaped to freedom, and helped countless others escape the shackles of bondage that was once legal in this country. If anyone embodies the American ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — and deserves a spot on our money — it's her.

Eleanor Roosevelt completely changed the game for first ladies, taking part in politics and public policy as well as championing humanitarian causes when she served from 1933 to 1945. She continues to provide inspiration and what better way to honor her than with this monetary monument?

Sally Ride was the first American woman in space in 1983. Maybe we can make her the first American woman on U.S. paper currency in 2016?
5/12Rosa Parks (1913-2005)
By refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white man in 1955, Rosa Parks became one of the key figures in the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the Civil Rights Movement as a whole. She deserves to be immortalized for generations to come.
6/12Amelia Earhart (1897-1937)
The first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932, Amelia Earhart is inspiration for independent women everywhere. And as such, we're sure those women would love to spend their own hard-earned cash with the aviator's face on it.
7/12Frances Perkins (1880-1965)
The first female U.S. cabinet member, Frances Perkins served as the U.S. Secretary of Labor from 1933 to 1945, and paved the way for generations of women in politics to come.

What better way to celebrate our feminist foremothers than by breaking the paper currency glass ceiling with Gloria Steinem, co-founder of Ms. Magazine and all-around pro-woman icon?
9/12Maya Angelou (1928-2014)
One of our most beloved American writers, Maya Angelou is best known for the words she puts on paper from her acclaimed books like, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, to her celebrated poetry. But we think putting her face on this bill is nearly as good.
10/12Hillary Rodham Clinton (1947- )
First lady, senator, secretary of state…and first female president? We don’t know about that last one quite yet, but given the already prolific career HRC’s had in American politics, she's kind of an obvious choice.
11/12Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1933- )
The Notorious RBG (that's Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, to you) is a no-brainer. She broke down barriers in the field of law for much of her career and this is another barrier we'd love to see her knock out.
