The Makeup
Diane Kendal, makeup artist for Nars Cosmetics, wanted to create an unconventional bold lip to complement the "romantic cliché of old New York" feel of the collection. She kept the face clean and went with a fuchsia-pink pout —i not an obvious color choice, but a great way keep the look modern.
To prep, Kendal applied tinted moisturizer and concealer to give the complexion a bright and even tone. She followed this with loose powder, which kept the face from looking too dewy (thus distracting from the lip). Next, she lightly applied eyeliner at the lash line, and a soft blush was dusted onto the cheeks. Kendal then used the lighter side of Nars Duo Eyeshadow in Pandora to create a luminous eye that wasn't too bright. Skipping mascara, she went straight to working on the bold lip, using a bright fuschia color to give a pop to this otherwise low-key makeup look.

The Hair
Kérastase stylist Odile Gilbert wanted to create an updo for the show that was inspired by old movies set in New York —i a time when "women dressed up to go grocery shopping." A twisted coif with sideswept bangs was the perfect way to add casual elegance to Thakoon's bold collection.
To create this sophisticated look at home, apply a mousse and texturizing spray while hair is damp; these products will give your locks body. Afterwards, blow-dry hair. Next, run a serum through the ends of the hair for shine. Then, pull the top section of hair back, securing the hair at the crown and leaving the sides out. Slick back the side pieces of hair and spray with hairspray. Once you have sprayed it all down, bring the hair into a ponytail and wrap it into a French twist, securing the hair with bobby pins. Pull the ends of your French twist forward to create the sideswept bangs, and tease pieces of the French twist to give a wispy texture in the back. Finish with hairspray to keep this unique twist in place.
