When news broke this past weekend that Meghan Markle planned to wear a tuxedo on her trip to Australia in the fall, we were thrilled. The only problem was, it came along with the rumor that the Royals didn't want her wearing a suit. According to The Daily Mail, Meghan had reportedly requested an elegant Stella McCartney tuxedo (the same designer as Meghan's second wedding-day look) for the tour and was promptly told no, and that “Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a Royal. Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasn’t traditional enough.”

Meghan has been pushing the boundaries of fashion for a Royal, from pants to off-the-shoulder daytime looks, but it might just be the tuxedo that has her stepping too far over the line. That said, Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, not only challenged the royal dressing traditions, she was also known to have worn an actual tuxedo.
