The Surprising Reason Victoria's Secret Is Getting Rid of Swimwear
1/12Remember those Victoria's Secret Swim catalogues you pored over obsessively? Well, they're gone for good. The brand is reportedly nixing its swimwear line in favor of activewear, Buzzfeed reports.
The Victoria's Secret Swim catalogue and CBS "Swim Special" are as popular as ever, but the company reported a surprising drop in swimwear sales this year. Their solution? Shutter the roughly $500 million business altogether.
In a memo on April 8, Citi analysts said Victoria's Secret parent company, L Brands “will be eliminating swim from stores and online.” With swimwear sales trending “down over the last several years, management believes store space will be better used for VS Sport,” the note read.
And those aren't the only changes. Victoria's Secret also revealed in a press release that they're getting rid of catalogs and focusing on just three categories: lingerie, beauty and the Pink brand --- no mention of the swimwear line.
