Why the "Hunger Games"'s Katniss and Peeta Belong Together
Katniss Everdeen is fearless, loyal, and the most skilled archer in Panem. And while we are absolutely of the belief that the fact that she helped save her home and her people is commendable all on its own, a large part of her story is also devoted to her love life. We'll be real: it's very easy to get sucked into all that drama. After all, Katniss does find herself stuck in the middle of one of the most intense love triangles of all time.
The Hunger Games trilogy inspired hordes of shippers to split into either #TeamGale or #TeamPeeta camps and the rivalries were fierce. Gale Hawthorne is totally hunky (shout out to Liam Hemsworth, who was Gale personified) and can keep up with Katniss’s physicality and stubborness, but Peeta Mallark is loving, thoughtful, and brave in ways Katniss can't quite understand at the outset of the books.
