Addison Rae just channeled one of the most iconic pop stars of all time. The musician attended Variety's Power of Young Hollywood event on wearing a cone bra top reminiscent of those made famous by the one and only Madonna.
Rae, who just dropped her new single “Diet Pepsi,” hit the red carpet wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier x Lotta Volkova velvety mauve pink ruched, cropped tank top with two large, super pointy cones on the bodice. (Does this not look like it was so much fun to wear?) Madonna is basically synonymous with the cone bra; she wore them onstage for her Blonde Ambition tour in 1990, and her cone bra corsets and bodysuits were designed by the one and only Jean Paul Gaultier. Rae wore hers with high-waisted velvet pants in a rich, deep burgundy shade and peep-toe PVC mules. Her hair was worn down in casual bends and she wore minimal makeup, just a touch of pink on her cheeks and lips.
Rae isn't the only star paying homage to the Queen of Pop with her red carpet looks this year. In June, Sabrina Carpenter donned an archival shimmering, crystalline Michael Kors dress originally worn by Madonna on the cover of Glamour magazine's Woman of the Year issue in 1990.
Rae is having a lot of fun this summer; she's got a new single out, essentially entering her new musical era, and she's featured on Charli XCX's “Von Dutch” remix. To perform the song onstage with Charli, Rae went full Y2K in low-rise pinstripe pants that laced up the back, a black cropped top, and a bedazzled, personalized “A” thong. We love seeing how Rae blends throwback trends together to make something that is fully her own, and we can't wait to see which one she'll try next.
