Addison Rae is well on her way to becoming pop royalty, and she’s proving it with her fashion. After all, outfits are a secondary layer that goes into brand development and storytelling and Rae clearly has gotten that memo.
The influencer-turned-musician arrived at the 2024 CFDA Awards wearing a look that can only be described as a fashionable mermaid ala her new single “Aquamarine.” The ensemble featured a gray corset that cinched at the waist. The bottom of the top scalloped out, leaning into the sea creature vibe she was creating. She then wore a sequined mermaid-shaped skirt with a striped pattern across the legs. The skirt fans out, and its sequins begin to polka-dot around the tail.
Rae finished off the look by wearing a small pearl necklace and carrying a large seashell. Her makeup was subtle, with gold-toned eye shadow and pinkish lips. And her new blonde hair was styled in a wet-and-wavy look, fully completing the theme she was so clearly pursuing.
Lately Rae has begun to make more sartorial nods to the music she is releasing thanks to her stylist, Dara. Dara has worked with many of our favorites, including Hunter Schafer, so it makes sense as to why Rae is rising in the fashion ranks.
Previously, Addison Rae made headlines with a Madonna reference she made with her outfit at the VMAs. While many viewers at home seemed to misunderstand the look, it's important to remember that style is subjective, especially personal style. The white padded bra, panties, and tulle tutu weren’t everyone’s favorite, but of course, there were many fans out there who loved it, which is an exact testament to the fan base Rae has created. It’s not for everyone, and that’s okay.
