More about Lady Gaga’s character on American Horror Story: Hotel, previously known only as “the Countess,” was revealed today. She posed on the cover of Entertainment Weekly in costume, for a cover story where showrunner Ryan Murphy also divulged that her character consumes human blood. (He’s not comfortable calling it vampirism, though. “I prefer the term ‘ancient blood virus.’ It’s really a form of hemophilia, in a way,” added Murphy. Oh, cool, that makes it OK.)

Gaga recalled how she finagled her way onto the show. It wasn’t that complicated. "I called him and I said, 'Ryan, I wanna be on Horror Story.' And he goes, 'Okay.' And that was it."

Murphy remembered, "I was at a construction site and my phone rang. I didn’t recognize the number. [I answer and] I hear 'Please hold for Gaga.' I think 'Bad Romance' was playing [while I was on hold]. Then she got on the phone. At first I thought it was a prank, but we then had a lovely call."

The article also revealed that part of the tale will take place in the 1930s and the other part — which features Gaga — in modern times. The Countess will have two lovers, played by Matt Bomer and Finn Witrock. Also set to star are American Horror Story alumni Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters, who will look like this:
