Awards season has officially kicked off with the Governors Awards, and Angelina Jolie has found the best partner for her first red carpet of the season: her son Knox Léon.
The Governors Awards, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is an event that no one wants to miss, as proved by the large number of guests, mainly actors and directors, that attended the ceremony this past weekend. Among them was Angelina Jolie promoting her Maria Callas biopic Maria.
The actor, who in recent years has attended red carpets accompanied by some of her children (if not all of them), chose her son Knox Léon as her plus one for the event, a remarkable feat since the last time we saw him was in October 2021.
The 16-year-old stole the show wearing a classic tuxedo and sporting a fresh buzzcut. His mother opted for a no-label vintage gown purchased from New York store The Kit Vintage.
Jolie's choice is a golden design with a straight neckline and spaghetti straps tied up at the neck. The skirt featured delicate golden lace with a white insert peeking through. Jolie handpicked the dress herself without the help of a stylist, as confirmed by the vintage store itself.
“Every time Angelina shops with us, she comes in on her own. She is very present, engaged, and chooses each piece. There has not ever been a stylist with her to hold her hand or a FaceTime to a friend. It is her surrounding herself with vintage, inspired by what she puts on next,” The Kit Vintage wrote on Instagram.
Angelina Jolie paired her dress with a spectacular jewelry set consisting of long oval-shaped earrings and a choker, all diamonds.
Choosing a vintage model for the most important red carpets is already a common practice in Hollywood. At this same gala, we saw the occasional vintage choice, such as the 2018 Chanel Haute Couture gown worn by Lily-Rose Depp.
