If it seems like over a decade ago that we were showing off our flip phones, that's because it was. But the old-school trend does seem to have some staying power.
According to CNET, the US Patent and Trademark Office granted Apple a patent this week that seems like it could enhance your user experience two-fold. Their patent's blueprint resembles a standard iPhone, but with a hinge down the center. The display is flexible, as well — a far cry from the projected prone-to-cracking glass we might see in the iPhone 8 next year.
The patent comes on the heels of criticism that certain iPhone 6 devices could bend, prompting the hashtag #bendgate. But The Next Web points out this rendition is a "feature, and not a bug." Patently Apple, which first reported the patent, says that Apple would use ceramic to create the bend, similar to the Apple Watch.

There's no telling if and when Apple will implement the technology, but it's something we could definitely get behind.
