The Wicked cast traveled the entire world — from Sydney to L.A. — during the press tour for the film, but Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have now added a new stop of their own. The couple recently stopped by Grande's hometown of Boca Ratón in Florida to enjoy the movie together with her family, and thankfully for us, they gave fans a glimpse on social media.
On November 25, Ariana Grande took to her Instagram stories to share that she had taken a day trip to Florida to enjoy Wicked on the big screen with her Nonna Marjorie and her brother Frankie — and, of course, Ethan Slater tagged along.
Ariana first posted a picture of herself in the theatre leaning into her Nonna — who, in a very icon move, had her dog on her lap — as Frankie watched over from the next seat over. “Flew to Boca for a day to watch with Nonna at the movie theater I grew up going to every weekend, Cinemark 20 in Boca,” Grande wrote in the picture, which, according to her tag, was taken by Slater.
In case there were any doubts about who the family's personal photographer was, Ariana added another slide of the trio holding hands mid-film, once again tagging Slater and this time clarifying he was the photographer with a little tag and smiley face.
“Thrilled to report that when the sugar glider had her drum solo, Nonna exclaimed loudly ‘Oh I LOVE that,'” Ariana wrote in the slide, tagging director John M. Chu. Slater reposted the slide to his own stories but added no further commentary.
To round off the watch session recap, Ariana also posted a video of her Nonna watching the scene where Galinda, her character, sings the fan-favorite “Popular.” In the clip, her Nonna can be seen smiling from ear to ear while holding Ariana's hand. Ariana also lets out a giggle as the song ends, and the room, including Frankie, lets out a loud cheer.

After much anticipation, Wicked Part One finally hit theaters worldwide on November 22, 2024. In case you have been living under a rock, the film stars Ariana Grande as Galinda/Glinda The Good Witch and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. An adaptation of the long-running Broadway musical, much like its predecessor, the Wicked movie is inspired by Gregory Maguire's 1995 book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which serves as a revisionist prequel to L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Ethan Slater plays a Munchkin boy named Boq in the production, which has been split into two parts, each one corresponding to an act of the musical. Wicked Part Two is set to hit theaters next year on November 21, 2025, just ahead of Thanksgiving.
