If you live in a wintry climate, you know exactly what we mean when we say, “OMG! It's so cold!” Winter has made her entrance, and Ariana Grande has the perfect way to fight its icy chill: a blanket coat.
The Wicked star bundled up for a day in New York City wearing a stylish and practical black puffer coat that was basically like a down comforter wrapped around her body; it's that puffy and warm. Her coat was wrapped around her body with an almost portrait-style neckline for a touch of fashion, and it fell all the way to her ankles, with ties at both the sleeves and the hem.
Instead of UGGs or equally cozy boots, however, Grande wore heels; she was probably on her way to a press engagement, and the coat was an easy way to bundle up without messing up her outfit underneath. (It was also way more Elphaba-coded than Glinda-coded, which was a fun twist.)
If this big, blanket-style coat looks like something you need to put on your body ASAP, we have some good news and some bad news. Grande's exact coat was Thom Browne's Downfilled Flannel Oversized Coat in Black, which retails for thousands of dollars.
The good news is that there are plenty of ultra-warm long black coats with a similar vibe to keep you feeling snug as a bug this winter. For a splurge, we love Canada Goose's Ellie Blanket Coat, which has a fashion-forward vibe. (It's still pretty expensive, but about half the price of Grande's.)
Aritzia's Super Puff is always a safe bet and comes in a variety of colors for $350. Gap's Big Puff Coat has a similar neckline to Grande's.
And even more affordable option but lighter would be Uniqlo's Down Belted Long Coat. Then, of course, there's the OG giant blanket coat: Norma Kamali's iconic (and aptly named) Sleeping Bag Coat, a total classic for winter weather.
Or, you know, you could just stay in bed under your warm, comfy blankets instead of leaving the house. Thank you, Ariana Grande, for enabling us to be in our coziest behavior inside and outside.
