Ariana Grande is setting the record straight about which cosmetic procedures she's gotten done and those she's never tried — and having a blast while doing so.
The Wicked star sat down with her costar Cynthia Erivo for Vanity Fair's now-infamous lie detector tests, with Erivo asking her all sorts of questions, including a now-viral moment about the moon landing potentially being faked. Conspiracy theories aside, another hot topic of conversation was cosmetic surgery, and Grande was very forthright, passing the test with flying colors.
Before we dive in, we have to mention another important part of the video: Grande's hair is not Glinda's golden blonde shade but a reddish strawberry blonde instead. TBD on whether or not that was a temporary swap just for the segment or if she's transitioning out of the Glinda blonde, but either way, it's a pretty color!
Ok, back to the test. After asking Grande about her relationship with work and her fans, Erivo inquires about specific plastic surgery procedures. “Have you ever gotten work done to feel more popular?” Erivo asks, subtly referencing the Wicked song of the same name. “I’ve had fillers in various places and Botox,” Grande shares. “But I stopped, like, four years ago. And that is the extent.”
The singer denied a nose job and boob job, jokingly reaching for her chest and saying, “Can you imagine?” The test says she's telling the truth. “This is the best day of my life! Take that, you YouTube people!” Grande cries.
Grande said she hasn't gotten a facelift but is “open” to one in the future. She denied a fox eye lift and said she didn't know what it was before rumors that she'd gotten one, but she is thankful that people think she has had one; she also said she hadn't had a chin implant and was confused about how the procedure is done in the first place. When Erivo teasingly asks if she got a BBL, Grande teases right back and answers, “Yes,” to which the test says, “She's lying!”
While Grande said she's never gotten a nose job, she did tease her older brother, Frankie Grande, for his; at one point in the video, she looks at an old photo of herself and Frankie and jokes that it was “two noses ago” for him. She also had some jokes for herself, commenting on a photo from her Victorious era and revealing her main beauty faux pas: “This is before I learned that I should have straight eyebrows and not Satan’s arch.”
This isn't the first time Grande has talked about her relationship with injectables and cosmetic procedures. In 2023, she opened up about her use of fillers during Vogue's “Beauty Secrets,” saying, "I've had a ton of lip filler over the years, Botox… I stopped in 2018 because I just felt so too much. I just felt like hiding. For a long time, beauty was about hiding for me, and now I feel like maybe it's not.”
At the time, the star said she wanted to see marks of aging on her face. "I want to see my well-earned cry lines and smile lines; I hope my smile lines get deeper and deeper, and I laugh more and more," she explained. "Aging can be such a beautiful thing. Might I get a face-lift in 10 years? I might, yeah! But these are just thoughts that I feel like we should be able to discuss. If we're talking about beauty secrets, f*ck it, let's lay it all out there."
