We've seen a lot of pink on Ariana Grande over the past year. The star has been doing some serious method dressing to prep for her role as Glinda/Galinda in the much-anticipated Wicked movie, wearing all shades of pink to high-profile events like the Oscars, CinemaCon, and even the Super Bowl. We're getting really close to the premiere of the movie, but Grande flipped the script and skipped the pink for the WSJ Innovator Awards — though she still paid homage to Glinda in a very subtle way.
There was no pink in sight for the event, as Grande wore a strapless white Vivienne Westwood gown in place of her usual rose-colored looks. The dress had a fitted, corseted bodice and exaggerated hip panniers, with a sheer white overlay embroidered with oversized flowers laid atop the more opaque white lining.
Grande styled the angelic garment with two layered necklaces and white pumps and wore her hair back in a bun. The dress may not have been pink, but it still felt very ethereal, as though she could float away in a bubble at any minute.
There was, however, a touch of Glinda present for the awards; Grande has an entire hand tattoo devoted to the Oz queen, which she got in 2023 and was in full display at the WSJ Innovator Awards. (She told Allure that she had been waiting for the right design to come to her to cover her hand, and voilá! It was Glinda.)
Grande and her Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo also have matching tattoos that read “for good," just like the song their characters sing. Erivo, who has been wearing green to Grande's pink, did wear the shade at the WSJ awards, courtesy of her Erdem dress, which was embellished with sparkling rhinestones.
Wicked officially hits theaters on November 22, so there's only a few more weeks left to wait — and you know we're eagerly awaiting Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's premiere outfits. Have you planned out your pink or green looks yet? There's no time like the present!
