Ashley Park says that she's on the mend after going through some major health issues, which led to the actor being hospitalized during the holidays.
The Emily in Paris star shared a series of photos to Instagram on Friday, January 19, detailing her scary experience with “excruciating pain” and “critical septic shock” while vacationing around New Year's Eve. Park wrote that she was initially diagnosed with tonsillitis, which is the inflammation of the tonsils in the back of a person's throat. She said that the infection led to septic shock which “infected and affected several of my organs.”
“I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we had initially been told,” Park wrote in the caption.
She continued: “I hesitated to share what’s been happening as I’m still in the throes of recovery…but I now know I’m safely on the other side of the worst. Thanks for reading this. Im sorry for being so absent recently to so much and to people in my life. I love you all. I’m healing and I promise I’m gonna be okay.”
Park also thanked her Emily in Paris co-star and partner Paul Forman “for being unconditionally by my side through all this.” She added that Forman was there for her during “three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion.” Forman also posted a photo of the two on his own Instagram account, writing in the caption, “By your side, no matter what.”
“I love you Paul. More than I can ever say,” Park added.

After thanking Forman, Park also thanked the doctors and ICU nurses who treated her, along with staff at the Maldives' wellness resort, Joali Being, for “responding immediately and staying with me to provide language translations and vital support.”
Ashley Park was absent from any Mean Girls premieres and events in recent weeks, despite starring in the original Broadway production — earning her a Tony nomination — and making a cameo in the musical movie.
The same day that Park posted her medical update, her co-star Lily Collins posted a photo of the Emily in Paris season 4 script, confirming that production for the beloved Netflix show was coming back. Production had been halted due to the Hollywood strikes. Park commented on Collins' post, writing “can’t even express how excited I am to see you and to be able to join you asap.”
