If you were planning on going as an astronaut or “Oops!...I Did It Again”-era Britney for Halloween, good news. Your costume just got a newsy angle.
On Halloween, the Earth is getting a peek at the asteroid 2015 TB145, which will be flying pretty close this October 31 — the closest its been in 40 years. Though the 1,200-foot-wide rock mass isn’t endangering the planet at all (this isn’t Armageddon, don’t worry), its relative proximity of 300,000 miles (just slightly father away than the moon) will give scientists a chance to get a better look at it.
You won’t be able to see the asteroid with the naked eye, but if you have a telescope, we highly recommend rounding up some of your costumed friends for a little spooky stargazing.
