The countdown for Bel-Air season 3 is over. Over 15 months after the season 2 finale hit Peacock on April 27, 2023, season 3 is officially back on our screens today, August 15, 2024, and Teen Vogue has an exclusive first-look clip to celebrate ahead of time.
Following the unveiling of the official trailer for Bel-Air season 3, which came out on July 19, we've got another look at the upcoming season with a scene featuring Ashley asking Carlton about his experience in rehab during what was supposed to be a casual family dinner pre-Juneteenth.
In the “casual” family setting, Ashley, played by Akira Akbar, is asked by her dad, Phillip (Adrian Holmes), to be open about whatever is on her mind. Her gaze immediately goes to Carlton (Olly Sholotan) as Will (Jabari Banks), Hilary (Coco Jones), and Vivian (Cassandra Freeman) act as onlookers.
"I'd like to talk more about rehab. Did it help"?" Ahsley deadpans in the middle of the conversation. “Yeah, yeah. It was tough, but you know I faced some demons and things I've been avoiding for years,” a dithering Carlton replies. “Like how I built my life on perception and lies. But the most important thing I learned is that you can't heal what you don't reveal, so that's kind of my mantra now.”

Speaking to Teen Vogue exclusively, showrunner Carla Banks Waddles had already previously talked about Carlton's new “theme” for the season. "[It] is something he's learning to go through on his own in rehab, in his addiction journey, and [in] his return that I think everybody [will feel the impact of],” Banks Waddles shared. “Will [also] may be wanting to avoid some tough conversations and hard things with his dad, but it's still very much there. Pushing him to heal and go through the fire and have those tough conversations with Lou this season is to see the evolution of what they could become.”
Spanning 10 episodes, season 3 of Bel-Air will feature series regulars Jabari Banks (Will), Adrian Holmes (Phillip Banks), Cassandra Freeman (Vivian Banks), Olly Sholotan (Carlton Banks), Coco Jones (Hilary Banks), Akira Akbar (Ashley Banks), Jimmy Akingbola (Geoffrey), Jordan L. Jones (Jazz), and Simone Joy Jones (Lisa).
