Bella Hadid was (cowboy) boots on the ground in Manhattan this week to bring her obsession with horses, cowboys, and riding to the city streets.
While Western chic has become a trend in the last few years, with cowboy hats, boots, and bolo ties making their way into everyday style, Bella Hadid has actually been living it. As a certified horse girl and now partner to a real-life cowboy, Hadid came to New York not for fashion week, but to perform an equestrian sport known as cutting.
A street in the Meatpacking District in Manhattan was closed off and turned into a mini equestrian ring — complete with dirt and all — as Hadid and her boyfriend Adan Banuelos mounted their horses and showed what they could do. The event was to promote Windows to the West: Horse Sense, a documentary film from Teton Ridge that tells the story of Banuelos.
Hadid, ever the supportive girlfriend, was all smiles as she arrived in full cowgirl gear, walking hand-in-hand with her man. The supermodel wore sensible jeans and riding chaps, boots, a black button-up silk shirt - that the model purchased on Depop from the brand Susamusa shirt.
Teton Ridge shared photos from the event on Instagram and promoted the forthcoming film, writing in the caption that the evening included a “live cutting demonstration, interactive experiences, western fashion shopping and a viewing of the short film.”
Hadid was linked to Banuelos last year after the Orebella founder included a photo of him in her birthday Instagram post in October. The two seem to be inseparable, as Hadid attends his competitions and spends time with him and their horses.
During Thursday night's demonstration, Bella Hadid got on her horse and showed off just how good she is — keeping up with her cowboy boyfriend. In videos taken from the event, Hadid is shown performing the aforementioned cutting, which shows the horse making swift movements back and forth.
Does this mean Hadid is hanging up her heels from the runway and instead leaning fully into the cowboy lifestyle? Time will tell.
