Kamala Harris made her way to Texas on Friday night with a very powerful asset by her side: Beyoncé. Rumors swirled during the Democratic National Convention in August that the superstar musician would take the stage at some point, but the Bey Hive was sorely disappointed when those turned out to be just that — rumors. But now, the singer finally took the stage beside the Democratic nominee and officially endorsed Harris for president.
The Houston native returned to her hometown alongside her mom Tina Knowles and former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland. “H-Town!” Beyoncé exclaimed to the raucous crowd. “We are at the precipice of an incredible shift, the brink of history.”
She continued: “I'm not here as a celebrity. I'm not here as a politician. I'm here as a mother.”
Before she and Rowland exited the stage, Beyoncé introduced Harris to the stage as “the next president.”

People started lining up hours before the rally began at Shell Energy Stadium, according to those who attended. Harris has been using Beyoncé's 2016 song “Freedom” throughout her campaign and many have speculated whether she would make an appearance alongside the vice president.
Texas will likely turn red during this election, as it has for decades, and instead of trying to sway the state to vote Democrat, Harris focused on how the state's near-total abortion ban could become a nationwide policy if Donald Trump is elected.
“And though we are in Texas tonight, for anyone watching from another state, if you think you are protected from Trump abortion bans because you live in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New York, California, or any state where voters or legislators have protected reproductive freedom, please know: No one is protected,” Harris said.
While the gravity of the election is heavy, the memes were not. Beyoncé's rare appearance and speech made fans react accordingly. For those not in the know, Beyoncé rarely gives interviews or speeches — unless she's accepting an award — so it was a special treat to hear her speak at such length.
