Forget science. Bill Nye is officially branching out into other, more glamorous fields. Everyone's favorite science guy has taken up — wait for it — modeling, and he's already scored his first major runway gig.

On Tuesday, Bill strutted his stuff at menswear designer Nick Graham's New York Fashion Week show, which was inspired by outer space. Our TV science teacher appropriately donned a metallic slate tuxedo jacket featuring little rocket ships flying around on it. You'll recall from your '90s television viewings that Bill is something of a fashion icon in his own right. After all, he showed off his immense collection of signature bow ties — in an interview with Vogue he confessed to owning about 500 — paired with his practical lab coat on his hit educational series Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Check out a few snaps of Bill's modeling debut, and feel free to imagine the crowd shouting a chorus of "Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill!" as he traversed the catwalk (and probably calculted his own velocity at the same time).

Also launching his runway career at Nick Graham's show: IRL astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The second man to walk on the moon may be retired from his career in space travel, but as he demonstrated yesterday, you're never too old to enter the world of fashion. Buzz looked ravishing in a futuristic-looking silver jacket and black T-shirt emblazoned with the phrase, "Get your ass to Mars." You tell 'em, Buzz.

OK, so this modeling gig may have been a one time thing for the science gurus, but at least we do know that Bill is headed back into the spotlight soon. He'll appear in a new series Bill Nye Saves the World, coming to Netflix this spring. And if past experience tells us anything, Bill's return to TV is sure to be out of this world.
