As the novel coronavirus spread across the country this spring, it left a wave of canceled events — including Pride marches — in its wake. Then the police killings of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd spurred mass protests, driving thousands of people into the streets for the first time in months. On Sunday, June 14, All Black Lives Matter held a march in West Hollywood to protest police brutality and celebrate LGBTQ people of color. Photographer Phylicia J. Munn was there to document the joy and pain of those fighting for collective liberation, and of this tumultuous moment in U.S. history.
