The trailer for Pachinko's long-anticipated second season is here, with a beautiful cover by BLACKPINK's Rosé as its main soundtrack.

On July 22, 2024, Apple TV officially released the trailer for Pachinko season 2. The trailer opens with a very familiar line from Coldplay’s 2008 hit track “Viva La Vida,” except it isn't Chris Martin delivering the line but BLACKPINK member Rosé.

In the next few clips included in the trailer, we hear Rosé delivering various other lines from the song's first and second verses in a quasi-murmured manner, as opposed to the anthemic feel of the original song, for added emphasis before reaching a crescendo as she breaks into the famous chorus. A quick look at the trailer's credit confirms the song featured is “Viva La Vida” by Rosé. You can listen by watching the trailer below:

Speaking about the cover on her Instagram Broadcast channel, Rosé wrote: “I feel honored to be part of the trailer and finale of the second season of this award-winning and globally acclaimed drama series, Pachinko, on Apple TV. I hope you all look forward to season 2 and enjoy my cover of 'Viva La Vida.'”

Rosé's cover of Coldplay's “Viva La Vida” marks the first solo release by the singer since parting ways with YG Entertainment for her individual ventures in late 2023. On June 18, 2024, the star took to Instagram to announce that, instead of setting up her own company like her fellow BLACKPINK members, she had decided to join The Black Label for her individual activities.

“I know some of you have been very eager to hear from me for a while. I personally didn’t want to speak or announce anything before I had everything aligned for my music to be out,” Rosé wrote. “As you all know, I have come from a place where more things have been done for me over doing things on my own. So, naturally, I need time to learn, understand, doubt and trust myself and others countless times to be the most responsible person I can be for myself.”

“As you all may know me, I really hate saying that I have something before I really do. And to me, there is nothing more important than delivering to you what I absolutely love, which is music,” she continued, adding that she had been in and out of the studio since late 2023. “This has been a year of drawing up a map and navigating to where I want to be and what I want to be doing going forward. It has been months of learning how to be an independent person for myself. Ultimately, I am happy to announce that I am officially working with @theblacklabel as my music management who will be managing my curriculum and helping me navigate towards achieving my dreams. On top of that, I will have some other very exciting announcements in the not-too-distant future, but most importantly, I would love for everyone to be most excited for my music!”
