The skirt-over-pants trend is having a resurgence, and BLACKPINK's Rosé may have just worn the coolest version of the look yet.
Wearing a skirt over your pants is a longtime styling hack to make your outfit really stand out. The look was popular in the mid-2000s when it seemed like everyone was tossing a dress or skirt over their flared jeans on the red carpet and IRL. All things ‘00s are currently back in the trend spotlight, but Rosé just managed to give the trend a new spin without going the Y2K route.
The singer wore a punk twist on the skirt-over-pants style to a listening party with her biggest fans in Seoul, South Korea. Instead of a miniskirt or a flirty, ruffly dress layered over her jeans, Rosé opted for an asymmetrical gray plaid maxi skirt with a ruffled hem, which flowed from the top of her hips all the way down to the floor.
Rosé wore her skirt over a pair of baggy, loose-fitting dark jeans and a cropped gray sweater on top and styled the ensemble with Puma Speedcat sneakers (ICYMI: she's an ambassador) and cute, curly pigtails. The plaid skirt and baggy jeans give the styling hack a punk edge, but the sweet cropped sweater and pigtails keep it cute, too.

Stars have been experimenting with the skirt-over-pants trend for a few years, Rosé included. The trend is easily adaptable to any personal style, whether you like a minimalist look, a maximalist vibe, or something in between.
Rosé is gearing up for the release of her solo album rosie, and she's been giving us tons of fashion inspo in the process. Recently, we've seen her in a slip and faux fur coat pairing for a night out, miniskirts and loafers, and tons of snapback hats, among many other examples. Whenever we're bored with our closet, we know Rosé will be there to give us the spark we need to create something fresh, fun, and super cool.
