After much fan anticipation, it's now official: BLACKPINK member Rosé just made history at the Met Gala 2021. Alongside rapper CL (who was also part of YG Entertainment until 2019), Rosé has become the first female K-pop idol to attend the prestigious event.
Rosé made her entrance alongside Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello wearing a ready-to-wear look from the brand. Rosé was officially announced as a new ambassador for Saint Laurent in the summer of 2020, after being spotted front row at the maison's Paris shows. Her announcement came with a series of black and white photographs shot by David Sims. She has since been spotted wearing the brand, both out and about and on the 'gram, more than a handful of times.
Anticipation for Rosé's Met Gala debut was extremely high prior to the event taking place on September 13 – to put it lightly. The star was seen at Incheon Airport, wearing full YSL garb, leaving for New York City on September 11, which piqued BLINKs' interests. A day later, on September 12, Rosé was seen leaving a fitting with Saint Laurent in the city. It didn't take long for fans to put two and two together and they were right.
While many speculated whether the other three BLACKPINK members could be also be attending the event, it looks like Rosé traveled stateside solo this time – but we will keep an eye out for the rest of the girls during the Met Galas to come. (Earlier this year, Rosé also visited the United States with Jennie. The pair stayed in Los Angeles for a little bit to work on new music.)
