Some may say grandma knows best, but in the case of Blue Ivy Carter, it's definitely mamma knows best — at least according to grandma of the hour Tina Knowles herself.
Recently, Tina Knowles stopped by The Jennifer Hudson Show to talk about being a proud mother and grandmother and took the chance to share some intel about her family's dynamics, especially regarding advice for her rising superstar granddaughter, Blue Ivy.
When asked if she gave Blue Ivy any advice at all as she receives more and more attention from the masses, Knowles did not hesitate to respond. “Actually, her mother gives her advice,” Knowles said. “[Blue Ivy] and her mother [Beyoncé] are really tight, so they don’t need me to give much advice. They tell me to mind my business, you know?”
To say Knowles is proud of her family would be an understatement. If one of her family members achieves a milestone, she's the first to shower them with praise on social media — so, of course, this interview would not be an exception.
“Blue is a jack of all trades, as my momma would say,” she said about her granddaughter when asked if she thought she could see her following in Beyoncé's footsteps. “She could do so many things. We don't know because she's only 13, so we'll see.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Knowles also quipped about Blue Ivy's height. “She passed me up a long time ago, and I can't stand it,” she told Hudson, a sentiment her daughter Beyoncé echoed at the Grammys. “[She's] taller than me, and I don't like it at all,” Beyoncé said at the time. (With all that talent and all that height, we might just have another model in the family?)
Of course, while this is the first time we learn about the advice hierarchy within the Knowles-Carter women, this isn't the first time Knowles has praised Blue Ivy and her many talents publicly. When her granddaughter got her second BET Award last year, Knowles went into full proud grandma mode and revealed Blue Ivy had taken up piano, but she had pleaded with her not to brag about it on socials. “One day, I hope you will let me post it and brag like other grandmas get to do,” she lamented at the time.
Despite the social ban, Knowles was over the moon about her “little superstar in the making.” She added: "I marvel at your talent, your beauty, your intelligence, but I am most proud of your kindness and down-to-earth attitude. Never attention seeking, just cool and chill as a cucumber all the time.”
