If you were looking for a new K-drama to add to your watchlists, look no further than Boyfriend on Demand, starring BLACKPINK's Jisoo and Doom at Your Service's Seo Inguk.

Written by Namgung Doyoung in his script debut and directed by Kim Jungsik, whose name you might recognize from So Not Worth It and Strong Girl Nam-Soon, Boyfriend on Demand is Netflix's latest bet in the K-drama sphere, and it promises to hook viewers from episode one with burnout and romance as its guiding threads. The series turns the romantic comedy trope on its head with a “never-before-seen virtual reality dating subscription program.”

“The series will let viewers vicariously experience exciting romance through the characters," Jisoo herself said in a press release. "I think it will be a fun treat for anyone who feels worn down by the monotony of everyday life.”

What is Boyfriend on Demand about?

Boyfriend on Demand is a new Netflix original K-drama. According to the official synopsis shared by the streamer, the series follows an exhausted webtoon producer called Seo Mirae (played by Jisoo), "who escapes reality through a subscription-based virtual dating simulation program, where she gets to experience the dates of her dream.”

The official logline is as follows: “Seo Mirae is worn out by work. Love? It's the last thing on her mind. But a virtual dating service sparks feelings—and maybe a real shot at romance.”

The series title in Korean is 월간남친, which literally translates to “monthly boyfriend.”
