Cameron Boyce Remembered by Dove Cameron, Skai Jackson, & More on His 25th Birthday

The actor died in 2019 of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.

Celebrities, including Dove Cameron, Skai Jackson, and more, are taking over social media to celebrate what would have been Cameron Boyce's 25th birthday with an array of heartfelt tributes.

On May 28, the friends and family of Cameron Boyce, who died at the age of 20 in the summer of 2019 of SUDEP, took to social media to keep the actor’s memory alive and celebrate the momentous birthday. (His loved ones also paid tribute to the star on social media for his 21st birthday and on the first anniversary of his passing.)

Boyce’s father, Victor Boyce, was among the first to post a tribute for his son’s 25th birthday. “Happy 25th birthday, my beautiful son,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of the late actor. “There [are] no words to express how much we love and miss you. Even though you've left us, you still continue to touch and inspire people all around the globe. [It] still feels like a dream that I wish I could wake up from. I miss you so much, Cameron.”

Maya Boyce, the actor’s younger sister, paid tribute to her bother in a more understated way, sharing a slide to her Instagram stories with a black background that simply read “25” in white.

Aside from his family, Boyce also received tributes from his costars and friends. Dove Cameron, who starred with Boyce in Disney’s Descendants, took to Instagram to share a handful of black-and-white pictures of herself and Boyce together. “not a day goes by. happy birthday. i love you,” she captioned the post. She also shared a link to donate to The Cameron Boyce Foundation on her stories. (In 2019, Dove Cameron had also previously unveiled a tattoo in honor of Cameron Boyce.)

Fellow Descendants star Sofia Carson also honored Boyce, sharing a snap of the late star to her stories that read “our Angel” and with a post on her main feed. “Happy Birthday to our Angel. I know you’re dancing in heaven. And god are they lucky to have you,” she wrote in the caption accompanying a black-and-white picture of the star posing mid-air during a shoot. “Ps. I miss your smile and sunshine a whole lot extra today. Adore you forever my Cam. Forever and ever. And ever.” Carson also shared a link to the foundation on her stories with a clip of the actor.

China Anne McClain, who starred alongside Boyce in not only Descendants but also the Grown Ups movie franchise, commemorated the actor’s birthday on her main grid, writing: “Happy birthday Cam 🤍💚 I love you.” McClain also promoted the foundation’s fundraiser on her stories.

McClain also posted a follow-up post with Boyce’s parents, writing: “Knowing Cameron’s parents [Libby Boyce and Victor Boyce] has helped me understand how Cam became the breathtaking man he was. [Lauryn McClain captured my reunion with [Libby], who I love with my whole heart. I wanted to share this moment as well for Cameron’s birthday today. It was so nice hanging out with you & Vic yesterday, Libby.”

Fellow Descendants stars Sarah Jeffery, Booboo Stewart, and Brenna D’Amico also paid tribute to Boyce. “Happy birthday, dream team partner,” Stewart wrote on his stories, sharing a picture of Boyce and tagging both the actor’s personal account and the foundation account. ”Love you."

Jeffery, on the other hand, posted her tributes to her main feed. “Happy heavenly 25th sweet sweet friend, she wrote, sharing a black-and-white picture of the two together. “ It’ll never make sense. I miss you and love you always 🤍 link in my bio to donate for SUDEP awareness in honor of Cameron.”

Jeffery followed up that post with a poem in honor of Boyce and other loved ones who have passed. “Written for Cam, for my auntie, for a dear friend who lost her brother, for all those who know what it means to not know what to do with all that pain,” she captioned her words.

Descendants director Kenny Ortega paid homage to Boyce on his Instagram sharing a candid photo of the actor laughing and tagging his family and costars. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMERON BOYCE 🎉Your Love, Compassion, Joy, and Generosity live amongst us and continue to inspire our journeys. Celebrate Cam’s birthday with a donation of any size to the @thecameronboycefoundation and surpass their mission to raise $10,000. Let’s continue to do the work to cure #epilepsy and end SUDPEP in Cam’s name! #onlylove 🤍” he wrote in his caption.

Boyce’s Jessie costar and best friend Karan Brar also remembered him on Instagram, sharing a photo of the late actor lying on the floor while hugging Brar’s leg. "happy birthday cam :)," Brar wrote over the picture.

Fellow Jessie star Skai Jackson posted a photo of herself and Boyce hugging from the set of the show. “I’ll never forget you. Happy 25th Birthday 💕,” she wrote in the caption. She also posted the fundraiser on her stories and shared a picture of a bouquet of flowers she and her mother sent to Boyce’s parents to celebrate his birthday.

Skai Jackson’s mother, Kiya Cole, also remembered Boyce on her own page, sharing a compilation video of the actor. "Happy 25th Birthday! We love and miss you 💜🙏🏽 Never forgotten," she wrote.

To honor Boyce's 25th birthday, The Cameron Boyce Foundation is hosting another fundraising event to raise funds for epilepsy and SUDEP research, setting an initial goal of $10,000.
