Comrade Cardi B logged back into the chat on Sunday to criticize the budget cuts in New York City that will lead to Sunday library closures, and she asked where, then, US money for Israel and Ukraine is coming from, in the process committing to not backing President Joe Biden in 2024. The rapper regularly weighs in on political issues, and this time she used her personal Instagram account to comment on her hometown’s spending as well as her nation’s.
On Instagram Live, Cardi warned, “I’m an angry-ass bitch and I’m about to go off right now… If something happens to me it’s because I’m speaking truth.” NYC mayor Eric Adams is slashing budgets for libraries, sanitation, policing, and schools. Of particular frustration are the existing issues with sanitation in the city: “B*tch, we are gonna be drowning with rats!” Cardi cracked. “You’re gonna see raccoons at 42nd Street!”
While the Live featured Cardi B's trademark humor, she expressed concern and fear for her family members and all New Yorkers given how the cuts may impact existing social services and quality of life, and then addressed her disillusionment with national politics. The budget cuts she referred to are specifically a part of the city budget, but Adams has claimed the cuts are necessary because of the Biden administration’s refusal to offer more funding to NYC to manage the migrant crisis, as White House officials claim that the US can afford two wars.

“I am not endorsing no f*cking presidents no more,” said Cardi, who interviewed then candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, in advance of the 2020 election, and then again on IG Live after he endorsed Biden, whom she later endorsed as well. “How is there a [110] million dollar budget cut in NYC for schools, libraries, police safety, and sanitation, yet Joe Biden’s talking about ‘yeah we can fund two wars… we’re the greatest nation – no the f*ck we’re not!’”
“We cannot fund these wars,” Cardi continued. “We can barely f*cking fund this country. Y’all need to finish it. Stop fronting like you got the f*cking money.”
Cardi’s not the only one feeling this way: A Sunday poll released by NBC News found that 70% of voters ages 18 to 34 “disapprove of how Biden is handling the war,” per Axios.
