Chanel Debuts Métier d’Art 2018 Collection With Kaia Gerber and Lily Rose Depp

I want everything.

Chanel jetted off to Hamburg, Germany, for the Métiers d’Art show, which debuted on the runway Wednesday evening. With Karl Lagerfeld at the helm of the iconic Parisian fashion house, it’s a sure bet that every collection sends a strong sartorial message that is completely different from the last. And, what’s more, you can always count on Karl’s signature way of putting every single model in the same pair of shoes, despite their changing looks, in nearly every single show he stages. The location choice was an homage to Karl’s home, as he was born in the same city that he just debuted his latest collection in.

This season called "Métiers d’Art" for Chanel ("Pre-Fall" to most other designers) was rife with nautical-inspired looks. There were Fisherman sweater dresses for the women, wide-leg trousers for the men. There were double-breasted coats, turtlenecks, and Maison Michel brimmed hats reminiscent of a sailor’s style on the heads of every single model. Of course, mixed throughout were tweed and feather minidresses, tuxedos, and the like, but the nautical message still sounded strong. With Lily Rose Depp and Kristen Stewart in the audience, and Karl’s godson Hudson Kroenig and newest supermodel Kaia Gerber on the catwalk, it was a show that is not to be forgotten, accompanied by a soundtrack of a full orchestra. Check out all the can’t-miss moments here.
