Chappell Roan's sense of style has already been solidified in fashion history books, with her pick of archival couture, her thematic performance outfits, and most notably, her makeup. The musician has become known for her bold and beautiful glam, and for her first Paris Fashion Week, the makeup once again played a starring role.
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess singer worked with her makeup artist Andrew Dahling to create her looks in Paris this week, which fell in line with her drag queen aesthetic and made her a standout at all the Womenswear Fall/ Spring shows she attended. Dahling is a fellow midwesterner who first worked with Roan for her 2024 Governor's Ball performance when she came on stage in full Statue of Liberty drag.
“I love working with Chappell because she's so down for anything … she's not super picky, she's not afraid to get messy. She's not a celebrity that has to work a specific way,” Dahling told The Cincinnati Enquirer. “We're all a bunch of misfits from the middle of nowhere with a crazy vision and crazy dream and so much talent.”
Roan has said in the past that she's inspired by drag queens including Divine, along with Madonna, and by the bullies at her school who used to refer to queer people as “clowns.” With that in mind, Roan has embraced white face paint as the base of several makeup looks — including her album cover and her first Grammys performance.
“I mean, makeup is just fun. I like putting lipstick on. It’s very romantic to me,” Roan told Them in an interview last month. “And my mom told me that she would find me digging in her makeup when I was a toddler, which makes sense.”
Dahling and Roan have since worked together to create her illustrious makeup looks for the 2025 Grammys, the MTV VMAs, her Rolling Stone cover shoot, and more. For this season's Paris Fashion Week, the pair brought the drama once more and explored the ways in which makeup could take a look from pretty to daring.
This March, Chappell Roan sat front row at multiple shows, including Ludovic de Saint Sernin, Vivienne Westwood, Rick Owens, and Rabanne. Here are all of her Paris Fashion Week makeup looks:
Roan opted for doll-like makeup for Valentino on March 9, 2025, which paired perfectly with her floral gown.
Roan took on the bleached eyebrows trend in full force, highlighting her dramatic eye makeup, sculpted contouring, and her perfectly set brown lips.
To fit in line with Vivienne Westwood's 90s punk rock aesthetic, Roan's makeup was sharp and dark around the eyes, with a dark blue and black liner and red lip. She slicked her voluminous red hair back, highlighting her painted over eyebrows and blush.
Not only did Roan's makeup artist take a big swing with the dotted design, but the touch of the foggy-appearing contact lenses tied together this other-worldly ensemble.
Roan attended Rabanne earlier in the day, and as you can see, the bold cat eye was later repurposed and updated for Rick Owens.

Roan channeled a villain in this look, which was completely taken up a notch due to the black pieces placed on her face.
