Bae Jinyoung is leaving CIX and parting ways with parent company, C9 Entertainment, five years after the K-pop group's debut.
On August 5, 2024, C9 Entertainment confirmed Bae Jinyoung's departure from the group and company with a statement posted to X in Korean, English, and Japanese. In the statement, the company announced Bae Jinyoung's exclusive contract with C9 Entertainment had been terminated effective August 1, 2024, and confirmed the member would be leaving CIX.
“We express our gratitude to Bae Jinyoung for his hard work as a member of CIX and ask for your continued support [in his] new chapter,” the company wrote.
In the statement, C9 Entertainment also confirmed that CIX will continue activities with the other four members: BX, Seunghun, Yonghee, and Hyunsuk. According to the company, the remaining members are “currently preparing for a new album to be released in the second half of the year, along with various performances.”

CIX debuted under C9 Entertainment on July 23, 2019, with their first EP Hello Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger. The group's last release as a quintet was the single album 0 or 1, released on January 24, 2024, which includes tracks “Lovers or Enemies” and “My name is shadow.”
Prior to debuting with CIX, Bae Jinyoung competed in the second season of Mnet's survival music show Produce 101 in 2017, securing a spot in the temporary group Wanna One, which disbanded in January 2019.
