Sex Education star Connor Swindells is officially married to Peaky Blinders actor Amber Anderson — and none other than Swindells’ on-screen dad, actor Alistair Petrie, acted as the wedding officiant.
2024 has been a big year for celebrity weddings. First there was Millie Bobby Brown and her hubby Jake Bongiovi. Then it was Charlie Puth and Brooke Sansone. Now: Swindells and Anderson, who recently married in Scotland after a friends-to-lovers relationship arc.
In photos shared by British Vogue, Petrie can be seen standing between the couple in traditional Highland dress, including a green-hued kilt, in honor of the couple’s Scottish Highlands venue. The moment was flooded with well-wishes online — perhaps partly because their two Sex Education characters have a bit of a fraught relationship in the show. It’s nice to see that that they are good friends in real life.
Swindells and Anderson first met while working on the set of Autumn de Wilde’s Emma back in 2019. The two remained friends, but it wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 that they took things to the next level.
“We ended up together during the first lockdown,” Amber told British Vogue. They continued to see each other after quarantine ended, and Swindells went on to propose during a group trip to Botswana. They chose to marry in the Highlands near where Anderson grew up.
Aiming to include all their family and friends in their ceremony, Anderson — wearing Vivienne Westwood — was walked down the aisle by her godmother while their friends Maddy and Marina Bye (of the comedy duo Siblings) performed an aura cleansing before the ceremony. The couple’s dog Moose was also a part of their big day, delivering the rings to them whilst wearing a tartan bandana. To honor their roots as a couple, Anderson and Swindells even asked de Wilde to do a speech during the drinks reception.
