Doja Cat has steadily been adding to her collection of tattoos this year, and we finally got a good look at her latest addition via the VMAs 2023 red carpet.

Doja Cat, who hit the red carpet in a dress reminiscent of Halloween spiderwebs from Monse, gave fans a glimpse at the new ink — a sharp scythe behind one ear, with the blade jutting out over the top and ending near her temple. Her platinum blonde buzz cut meant we could really see the tattoo in its full, gory glory. (That tat is easily hidden with longer wigs, but the short hair lets it shine.)

Doja paired her ink with super skinny 1930s-style drawn-on brows, bright white eyeshadow accented by a few face gems, and spiky spider eyelashes — the perfect intersection of goth and glam.

The scythe is one of the newer pieces in Doja's lineup, and, per Vibe, she only got it done in late August. In March, she also inked an antelope skull on her wrist. Around the same time, Doja was accused of Satanism for her portrait of the mythological creature from Fortunio Liceti's De Monstris, which she dismissed by saying, "If ur calling me demonic, honestly werk cuz like I love that u ate fr."

In May, Doja also debuted a giant bat skeleton tattoo across her back and posted a snippet from an article about bats that seemed to have relevance for her. "Bats often represent death in the sense of letting go of the old and bringing in the new," the snippet said. “They are symbols of transition, of initiation, and the start of a new beginning.”

Doja hasn't shared her inspiration for the scythe yet, but the scythe is most closely associated with the Grim Reaper, and given that Doja's latest song is called "Demons," it fits right in with the rest of her ink.
