Ella Emhoff is known for her edgy coquette aesthetic, and her 2024 CFDA Awards red carpet look is the perfect example of her signature style. As the stepdaughter of the vice president and current presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, Emhoff is very high profile, which means we don’t always get to see her in the press, but moments like the CFDA Awards bring us back into her world.
And, the 25-year-old gave us a look at her sense of style tonight. Her red carpet outfit featured a spaghetti strap gray tank top with a plaid gray and black ankle-length skirt. The skirt also featured a large bow on the front that matched her top. She finished off the look with a middle-part slicked back bun and a small black purse with tiny bag charms, including a dice and a bow. Emhoff has an arrangement of tattoos going down both of her arms too, which added a flair to her look as well.
Emhoff’s appearance at tonight’s awards checks out because the Brooklyn-based designer runs in many fashion circles. She is a model, walking in shows like Balenciaga, Miu Miu, and Coach. She also is the founder of the knitwear brand and crafting club Soft Hands. She launched her knitwear collective in 2021 and held her first New York Fashion Week presentation in February 2023. "Ella Emhoff Likes to Knit," was a pop-up highlighting her collection of mohair maxi gowns, balaclavas, and sweater vests. She also hosts a knit club, teaching others how to do the craft. So, Emhoff's coquette look tonight is right in line with her everyday cozy fashion.
